Come and take part in Port Elizabeth’s original Trail Run Series

This year will mark the 8th Edition of PE’s original 3 race trail run series.

From its beginnings as the Baakens Trail Series back in 2011, through its change in 2015 into the popular Spectrum Trail Run Series as its known today, this event has something to offer trail runners of all abilities.

Choose from the short series (5km, 8km, 5km) or take on the challenge of the long series (11km, 8km, 18km).

Experience the thrill & excitement of night trail running on race 2.

We’ll have ECMR on standby for any potential medical mishaps, and Bradbury Protection Services will be providing event security all around the race routes.

Nuun will be providing post race finisher drinks to top up your electolyte levels.

Bridge Street Brewery will be offering a buy 1, get 1 free beer special to all race entrants – just hand in your race number after the race to claim yours.

Come and enjoy the beautiful Baakens Valley and experience some of the nicest inner city trails Port Elizabeth has to offer!

General Event Information

The LONG Series is for the runners that want to take part in the 11km trail run, the 8km night trail run and the 18km trail run

The FIRST 50 SERIES ENTRANTS will also receive a unique event headpiece to wear out on the trails.

Late entries will be accepted at registration for all events, but a late entry fee of R30 will be charged.

Late entry and registration will take place at the Bridge Street Brewery, 1 Bridge Street, at the bottom of Brickmakerskloof, which is also the start/finish for the series.

The routes will be well-marked, but please attend and listen at race briefings, as this will benefit you on the trails.

There will be river crossings on all the routes, and depending on the water levels, your feet may get wet! If the Baakens River is flowing strongly safety measures will be put in place, and there will be assistance provided at all river crossings, if deemed necessary.

It is advised that each runner carry a hydration pack, fuel belt or water bottle.

There will be a sweeper on the course for each event.

This is a green series so no litter will be tolerated, and anyone seen littering on the course will be disqualified.

Please discard any litter at the water point.

Medics will be present on the course to ensure each runners safety, but every participant must complete their medical details and sign the indemnity form in the online registration form.

Any medical costs incurred by a race participant will not be covered by the race organisers, sponsors or NMB municipality, and you enter the race at your own risk.

The race organizers reserve the right to cancel any of the trail runs in the event of extreme weather conditions, which could endanger the participants.

Overall series prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers, and this prize giving will take place at 12pm on Sunday 19 May.
